Requirements- Nominal height: 170 cm
- Could be adjustable
- Rotating torso: Min +/- 90 degrees from forward, ideally infinite rotation
- Storage: Flat surface (e.g. tray or cabinet) accessible by arm(s) to place and carry objects
- All attachments on radial line from robot’s center axis
[/li][/ul] Design Concept
- Body structure will be constructed of extruded aluminum T-slot framing (e.g. "80/20" or Misumi brands) for modularity and ease of assembly, modification, and mounting of components.
- Can pivot about vertical center-axis relative to drivetrain. The goal is to achieve unlimited rotational range (i.e. able to circle indefinitely without tangled cables).
- Current concept to achieve this is separate power supplies installed in body and drivetrain and wireless data communication to and from drivetrain.
- Alternative concepts are rotating brushed electrical connection between body and drivetrain for power and/or optical communication along axis of rotation.
- Bottom 30 cm will be reserved for computer, electronics, and power supply.
- Footprint of body at any height should not exceed a bounding cylinder defined by the footprint of the drivetrain (currently max 60 cm x 60 cm, so a 60 cm diameter cylinder).
